Employee Spotlight: Meet Laura Gillian
Role: Director of Service and Lead Care Manager

In this employee spotlight, we’re excited to introduce Laura Gillian, one of our Directors and Care Managers, and share more about her role, journey into senior care, and what makes her such a valued member of the Seaside team.
What is your role and what does a typical day look like for you?
I do a little of everything here at Seaside Home Health Care. I help to manage care for all of our clients, look to find new avenues to provide oversight and assistance for seniors who might need a little more help, but aren’t ready for full care, and bring leadership and organization to the day to day operations.
What got you started in a senior care career?
Having close relationships with my grandparents, birthed in me a desire to help the senior community. After 5 years as an elementary school teacher, I made the switch to senior care in 2006 and have loved every minute.
What brought you to Seaside Home Health Care?
Seaside’s desire to help seniors is truly unmatched. I know it was the place for me, plus I get to work with some of my very best friends- How blessed am I?
What do you enjoy most about your work?
There are so many things I love about what we get to do, but I would say knowing I am making helping to make life better for seniors. When a loved one calls and says- “Mom has never been so happy” or “I cannot believe the difference that the care team has made”- icing on the cake.
What project or accomplishment are you the most proud of?
Having a background in education, being a life long learner is super important to me. I would say developing an Alzheimer’s Curriculum that was certified by the state to be used to train Home Health Employees. It was a lot of work, but also very rewarding.
What skills are most important to your success?
I love schedules and organization and I feel like that helps me stay on-top of and prioritize work. I try to not let this strength become a weakness as it can easily become something that feels stressful, but all in all, I am proud of being able to do things quickly and (most of the time) well. I also strive to learn new things, all the time, to push my self to do and be better.
What do you like most about working at Seaside Home Health Care?
The people we get to work with on a daily basis- whether it’s office staff, clients, patients, or care providers. I just love each one!
How would you describe our team in 3 words?
Determined, Loving and Intentional.
What differentiates Seaside from other agencies?
So many things make us different. Being in senior care for 20 years, I have had a first hand view of what works and what doesn’t. Seaside does what works: Loves people, prioritizes them, and goes above and beyond to make sure they are successful in their care goals.
What does success look like to you?
From teaching students to helping seniors, all my life has been in the service industry. Success is not about financial gains for me, it is about being excellent to people. I know at the end of the day that if I do best by others, I feel rewarded.
