Our Employees
Seaside Home Health Care is a licensed and accredited home health care agency. That means that every RN, LPN, CNA and HHA is our employee. We personally recruit, hire, train and support our entire team right here in Southwest Florida. While this model does cost us more, it allows us to stand behind every employee to ensure great performance.
We know that a well-supported, well trained, engaged, and happy employee will feel ownership and commitment to our company as well as those they are serving. This model also gives us the ability to stand with our clients’ families, guarantee great matches, carry the liability and reduce overall worry for the clients we serve.
Compatibility Matching
The families we serve aren’t just clients or patients to us. We treat them like our own family. The same is true with the members of the care team that we employ. And because personalities interact differently, we take great care to create compatible matches. We guarantee a great match for every client because there is nothing that makes life greater than spending the day with someone you like to be with.
Finding Great People to Care for Our Clients
We take time to vet every applicant and only a small percentage of applicants have what it takes to be on the Seaside Home Health Care team. We specifically look for individuals with the appropriate skills and background, we also are looking for people with kindness, compassion, and a heart to help. Our clinical staff come to us with their degrees and licenses. And our extensive training can teach almost anyone the skills it takes to take care of someone. It takes someone who truly cares and has the heart to help to be a Seaside Home Health Clinician. Our screening and interview process is in-depth to ensure we hire the best of the best. We hold to a strict policy that if we would not trust this person to take care of our own family, we will not hire them to take care of yours.
Hands-On, In-Person Training
Each of our employees complete a comprehensive, multi-phased training program before they ever meet or serve a patient or client. Backed by years of experience, we believe we have the most prepared, highest-skilled clinicians in the area. We take great pride in preparing our team for success in all situations.
Clinician Evaluation and Skills Verification
Each of our clinicians (Registered Nurses, LPNS, Therapists, etc.) have the licenses to practice their individual profession. But we also take them through an initial proficiency and skills evaluation as well as on-going training and reverification of skills. We do this training in-house utilizing our RNs and Peer-to-Peer experience. We also train and evaluate our clinicians for practicing their craft with patients that have a cognitive decline or dementia. These skills may not be as necessary at the hospital, but there are a large number of our Home Health population that have this need. And the ability to deliver quality care in those situations is very important to us at Seaside.
Administration of Medication
Medications are widely used in the care of the senior population and are sometimes necessary for maintaining health and for improving quality of life. Yet, if medications are improperly administered they can cause side effects, increase falls, and cause other adverse outcomes. Our team of nurses can help manage medications and administer them if needed.
CPR
CPR must be given in 4-6 minutes for it to be effective in saving a person’s life. ALL care providers are certified in CPR because we never know when there might be an emergency. They are taught to act fast without hesitation to save a client’s life. Our team also receive hands-on practice and a performance skills test and recertification, with our on-staff American Red Cross CPR Instructor.
Alzheimer’s Disease & Other Related Dementias Training
Home Health Staff is required to be trained in Alzheimer’s and other Dementias. The class is only required to be 2 hours, but we teach the different types of dementia, the symptoms, and stages of Alzheimer’s, and the behavioral symptoms that may accompany the disease. We are happy to say 100% of our staff receive this full day training, gaining the increased knowledge and skill set to provide quality care for our clients with Alzheimer’s and dementia. We are proud to let you know that Seaside has developed and certified training through the DEOA.
We also have certified Alzheimer’s trainers in-house. Seaside prides itself to learn and grow alongside those doing research with Alzheimer’s and other Dementias.
