Understanding Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias is essential for senior care providers because these conditions affect not only memory, but also communication, behavior, judgment, and the ability to perform daily activities. As the number of older adults living with dementia continues to grow, caregivers must be equipped with the knowledge and skills to recognize symptoms, respond appropriately to challenging behaviors, and provide compassionate, person-centered care. Dementia education helps providers improve safety, reduce anxiety and frustration for both the individual and caregiver, enhance quality of life, and support families navigating the progression of the disease. By understanding how dementia impacts the brain and daily functioning, senior care providers can better meet the unique needs of those they serve and help individuals maintain dignity, independence, and meaningful engagement for as long as possible.

To be in compliance with the Department of Elder Affairs (DOEA), all Home Health Agency employees must receive written information about Alzheimer’s and complete two Alzheimer’s Trainings.  The first is a 1 hour course within 3o days of hire and the second is an additional two-hour training within 7 months of hire.

These trainings allow care providers a larger scope of Alzheimer’s and other Related Dementias.

We at Seaside Home Health Care have and approved training and trainers on staff for the 2-hour training.  It is available for purchase for other home health agencies and we also offer classes for those needing it, at a minimal cost.

To learn more about our training, feel free to reach out to us and we can discuss what works best for you or agency.
